Why Chicago is America's Murder Capital

And why the media hides that fact

For eleven years in a row, up until the end of 2022, Chicago has had the highest body count of any city in America. Yet, when gun control advocates seek gun confiscation they almost always leave this city out of the mix. More on that later. But Chicago's homicide rate surpasses even larger cities like Los Angeles (382) and New York City (438) with a whopping 738 murders in 2022; the last full year of statistics.

For that reason it has been called the murder capital of America.

According to one website, Wirepoints: "Chicago suffers from a trifecta of failure: Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, the county’s Chief Judge Timothy Evans and Mayor Lori Lightfoot have crippled criminal justice and destroyed police morale."

Lightfoot is no longer a part of that trifecta, having been voted out in 2023, after the Wirepoints article was written; however, new Mayor, Brandon Johnson, is even worse. The thing is, both Los Angeles and New York City have Democrats running things there, too. They also defund the police while prosecutors refuse to charge criminals. And leftist judges do not convict or sentence criminals accordingly to deter crime; just like Chicago.

So, why is Chicago the murder capital of America?

In Chicago the gangs are running those areas where the murder rates are the highest. There are gangs in other large Democrat cities, too. But they do not control the politics of the city like they do in Chicago. So the simple answer is that politicians pandering to Chicago's gangs create the atmosphere for the horrendous murder rates in that city.

Which would also explain, in part, why so many Chicago gang bangers are now armed with fully automatic pistols. You see, a good part of the massive Chicago murder rate is connected to the latest phenomenon of gangs equipped with machine guns. In fact the horrible numbers of mass shootings, defined by those trying to confiscate our firearms, like the Gun Violence Archive, define mass shootings as involving "four or more shot (injured or killed) in a single incident." By driving that number as high as possible they create a panic and try to force through legislation that is in conflict with the Second Amendment.

The Chicago numbers are included in the totals given by these anti-gun extremists; however, Chicago is never mentioned because those mass homicides do not fall within the parameters set by left wing radicals. In fact, almost all of Chicago's murders are committed by black gang members, many now armed with machine guns.

You see their dilemma. Blacks are supposed to be the victims of white MAGA extremists, not fellow black lives matter types. So they cannot mention Chicago in their drive to suspend the Second Amendment. Nor can they mention the growing problem of those gang members armed with machine guns. Remember machine guns have been illegal since Franklin Roosevelt signed the Gun Control Act of 1934 into law.

So how are new laws going to control gun deaths when one on the books for 90 years has no effect? Of course it isn't, so the media simply do not mention Chicago in their drive to scare everyone of the evil white, heterosexual, male who is going to massacre you in the mall or your children in school. It is why homosexual, trans, and people of color, who murder ten times, or more, than do white, heterosexual males, do not get included in the drive to confiscate your firearms.

A closer look at Chicago's murders by a Chicago reporter for the Associated Press, Don Babwin, shed light on that violence. In this 2016 investigative report Babwin secured a list of 91 homicide victims in August, from public records. What he found was that the city’s murders are highly concentrated in a handful of minority neighborhoods.

In fact, in a city that's one-third black, vast majority of those murdered (71) in August were African American. Another 11 had Hispanic surnames. "The majority were in their teens or early 20s. Further scrutiny found that more than 70 percent of those shot to death were on the Chicago Police Department's "Strategic Subject List." Which is a list of 1,400 people considered likely targets of violence based on gang involvement or criminal records," according to the AP report.

Not your MAGA white man that the left tries to discredit. OK, that was in 2016, just when Donald Trump was elected president. In fact, that was when we still had a black president who was supposed to fix the divide between the races. Of course he didn't, instead creating more division and tribalism than any president before him. Only Joe Biden surpasses the interracial hatred spurred on by Obama. But what about today?

Since 2020, when Covid caused massive unnecessary disruptions in the U.S., especially in Democrat states and cities, the homicide rates across the nation have been skyrocketing. But in Chicago they went above and beyond, climbing to numbers not seen since the bad days of the 1970's. In fact they rival the numbers of those killed in the 1990's when the black gangs were fighting for control of the drug trade from the Nigerian and Colombian cartels.

And part of the problem is the addition of machine guns in the hands of 15-year-old gang members. So how did that become a problem when machine guns have been outlawed for 90 year? The answer is that Glocks can be transformed into fully automatic pistols with the addition of a comparatively easy to install switch.

And wouldn't you know it, China provided those switches cheaply and easily. According to an article in the Chicago Sun Times, “Many of the switches the police have seized with handguns in Chicago were made in China. They’re marketed online for other purposes, for instance as attachments for replica “airsoft” guns that fire plastic projectiles."

The Chinese switches are metal, but you can also find plastic switches that can be made at home with a 3D printer. Chicago Police first found switch equipped Glocks in 2018, but the problem has only expanded since then. In 2017 there were zero Glocks with switches seized by the Chicago Police Department. In 2018 there were 12, 42 in 2019, 82 in 2020, and 356 in 2021.

The problem continues to grow, in fact on January 8 a Chicago officer was shot with a fully automatic Glock while trying to arrest a suspect for breaking into a Prada store in the exclusive Gold Coast area of Chicago. The black felon had an extensive criminal record and a federal warrant for his arrest at the time of the shooting.

He was prohibited by many laws from owing any firearm, yet was caught with two, one fully automatic. Any new law passed would not deter people like him. The Glock switch problem is nationwide, but because of Chicago's politics, it is ten times worse in the murder capital of America.

As the problem of mass murder on Chicago's streets continues to grow, while being hidden from view in the national press, the numbers simply multiply. Halfway through this first month of 2024 there have already been 11 homicides in Chicago, nine by gunfire, with 54 people having been shot.

There is a cure, but will Chicago take it?

Until the corruption of Chicago politicians is halted, by voting out those now in office, Chicago will remain the murder capital of America. Only when a viable government is in place, that wants to end the problems, will change occur.
